Loja occurs as province in Ecuador. A capital is the city of Loja, which is a super old city. A original compound city getting been destroyed by an earthquake, a city was rebuilt at higher elevation by 1548 by Spanish Captain Alonso de Mercadillo.

Loja is placed at 2100 meters (6,890 foot) within elevation in the Cuxibamba vale in the Andes Mountains of southern Ecuador.
